Dymo LabelWriter TwinTurbo

Print your own postage at home By John Virata

The Dymo LabelWriter TwinTurbo is a LabelWriter designed for small office home office use that enables you to print a variety of address labels, file folder labels, shipping labels, Internet postage, name badges, and even the new Dymo postage Stamps right from the convenience of your home office. The Dymo LabelWriter TwinTurbo offers 300dpi print quality and can print about one label per second (55 labels per minute based on a four line address label). It uses advanced thermal technology so there is no ink or toner to buy but rather, sheets of consumables. It holds two label rolls inside the printer itself.

What's in the Box
In the box you will find the LabelWriter Twin Turbo, USB cable, power supply, Dymo software CD, one roll of address and one roll of DYMO Stamps postage labels, and the QuickStart guide.

Set up
Adding the LabelWriter TwinTurbo involves following specific directions written on the USB cable bag, specifically to install the software and drivers from the disc before attaching the USB cable to the back of your computer. Follow the onscreen instructions, add your labels and you are good to print. Dymo Label Software is where you do all your label writing. It offers an address book to save your addresses, Designer, which enables you to add some design elements to your labels, the user guide, links to the Dymo website and a link to buy Dymo labels.

Printing
Once you've set up the label you wish to print, added any elements, such as graphic images or time stamps, you are ready to print. You need to place in the appropriate label size, choose the label roll (either left or right), determine the number of labels you wish to print, and just select the print icon in the Dymo Label Software toolbar. LabelWriter does the rest, and quite fast as well. The software also enables you to save your labels so you won't have to go reinventing your labels. There are a whole host of label templates to choose from, ranging from  several types of address labels, to appointment and business cards, to more obscure labels for audio cassettes and the now extinct Iomega Zip disk.

The Dymo LabelWriter TwinTurbo

So who can benefit from the Dymo LabelWriter TwinTurbo?
The Dymo LabelWriter TwinTurbo offers the benefit of printing your own labels and US postage stamps from the convenience of your own desktop. And with gas prices the way they are, trips to the post office for stamps could be one less errand to run, provided the consumables of the LabelWriter TwinTurbo justify the convenience of printing stamps at home versus getting them at the post office. For those with eBay businesses, label writing is often the last thing that you do to prepare your package, and if you ship out multiple packages, it might just be easier to just cut and paste the address into Dymo Label Software directly from the eBay buyer's page, as that way there is no mix-up in the address if you were to write it out by hand. Again this is testament to the convenience of the Dymo LabelWriter TwinTurbo.

Postage is offered via Endicia.com. As with the Dymo LabelWriter TwinTurbo, the Endicia software works with Windows or Macintosh computers. Printing stamps via the Dymo software is free, you only pay for the postage that you print. The LabelWriter TwinTurbo has a list price of $189. For more information, visit www.dymo.com
