Dozens arrested in Occupy appear in court in NYC.Dozens of Occupy protesters arrested in September march appear in NYC court.
NEW YORK (AP) ' Dozens of Occupy Wall Street protesters are packed into a Manhattan courtroom waiting to appear before a judge.
Thursday marks the first court date for 78 demonstrators arrested while marching from their lower Manhattan base to Union Square on Sept. 24. Police said the protesters were blocking traffic. Most were arrested on disorderly conduct charges, and a few on resisting-arrest charges.
Attorney Martin Stolar represents some of the protesters. He expects prosecutors will offer to let the cases be dismissed if the demonstrators stay out of trouble for a certain period.
The Manhattan district attorney's office declined to comment.
Stolar says some demonstrators say they did nothing wrong and want to go to trial.
