Download: Expression Strokes, Series 815 assorted paint brushes
If you don't already know about Expression, it's a vector illustration program like Macromedia Freehand or Adobe Illustrator that also offers some unique features, like the ability to paint with raster images on fully editable vector paths. (These sorts of paths are known as "skeletal strokes," which means, basically, that the raster images are mapped to a path on the fly, just as if you were painting with regular vector strokes.) In its full retail release, I gave this software a Strong Buy recommendation. Now that it's free (for the time being), it's a no-brainer. Download your copy here before it's too late. (You will need to sign up for a Microsoft .NET Passport, which is free.)
This week's brush collection for Expression includes 15 individual strokes, all falling into the general category of paint brushes, varying from wet to dry appearances. All have been created with unique nibs measuring at least 100 x 100 pixels, though they can, of course, be modified to suit your needs. Here's a look at some of the brushes in this collection.
These brushes will work in Expression 2 and Expression 3 (and Living Cels, if you were lucky enough to download a copy of this animation software before it disappeared). Expression and Living Cels are available for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows. Read on for download and installation instructions.
