Diversion Media to Present at Producers Guild of America New Media Council East Panel on Open Source Software for Producers`Brave New (Open) World: A Producer`s Primer on the Latest Open Source Software` At The New School`s Lang Auditorium on Tuesd (November 09, 2009) The Producers Guild of America (PGA) New Media Council (NMC) East today announced that it will convene a panel discussion on the latest open source software solutions for new media, film, and television producers on Tuesday, November 10th, from 7:00-9:00 pm at The New Schools Theresa Lang Auditorium, located at 55 West 13th Street, at 6th Avenue in New York City. The event is part of the PGA NMC Easts well-regarded Salon Series, which is now in its 5th season. All events are webcast in on-demand format by Scribe Media, and can be accessed at www.scribemedia.org/pga. ?From wikis to Ruby on Rails, producing content using open source software is no longer a rarified option, but a long-term strategy for production companies, said Chris Pfaff, chairman of the PGA NMC East. ?The open source software revolution, long the province of computer scientists and software developers now offers producers continuously improved software thanks to the open source community that can deliver lower costs and high-quality features for web and mobile apps; video editing and distribution; audio recording, and collaborative applications.
This session will provide a snapshot of the open source software movement's key features for those producing in the virtual world.
