Director Ted Demme Dies

Most recent film by 38-year-old was Blow By DMN Staff Writer
Producer/Director Ted Demme, whose most recent project was the movie Blow, reportedly died Sunday at the age of 38 while playing basketball.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Demme collapsed while playing in a celebrity basketball game at Crossroads School. He was taken by paramedics to the Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center emergency room in full cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead 20 minutes later, at about 5 p.m., according to the Reporter story.

Demme worked in both film and television. As a producer, his film projects included That Thing You Do! (1996), and for television he produced "Yo! MTV Raps." His film directing credits include Who's the Man? (1993), The Ref (1994), Beautiful Girls (1996), Life (1999) and Blow (2001),

His uncle, Jonathan Demme, was director of the 1991 film Silence of the Lambs, winner of the Oscar for best picture that year.
