Digital Voodoo has introduced Iridium AV, a standard definition output only broadcast design card that features two 10 bit SDI outputs, one composite output for composite preview and 6 channels of AES/EBU digital audio.
According to the company, Iridium AV enables you to view your work on either a broadcast SDI monitor or a standard NTSC or PAL video monitor with the added flexibility of outputting digital audio.

Iridium AV is compatible with all standard definition design applications for the Macintosh. Users can work with uncompressed 10 bit 4:2:2:4 or 4:4:4:4 dual link video directly in YUV colorspace.

Key Features of Iridium AV include:

  • Fully digital SMPTE 259M 10 bit SDI output
  • PAL or NTSC composite output
  • Real-time uncompressed 10 bit QuickTime playback without any kind of video compression
  • Can be selected to operate in either 525 (NTSC) or 625 (PAL) television systems Functions as a second Mac monitor when not in use for real-time uncompressed playback
  • 6 channels of AES/EBU digital audio ( 48 kHz 96 kHz )
  • Built-in safe area generator helps when using applications that don't include this function
  • Video genlock, allows Iridium AV to be locked to station reference

    Iridium AV is shipping now from all Digital Voodoo resellers. It retails for US$2495 and is bundled with Digital Voodoo's Media Transfer application. Media Transfer permits the frame accurate capture and insertion from and to RS-422 controllable digital tape decks such as Sony's Digital Betacam.
