Digital Publishing Platform Vendor YUDU Media Opens US Headquarters in Cambridge, MAFast-growing, UK-based Company Expands US Presence to Better Serve Growing Base of US Customers (April 29, 2010)
CAMBRIDGE, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/29/10 -- Digital publishing vendor YUDU Media announced today that it has opened an office in Cambridge, Mass. to better serve its growing base of US customers.
With world headquarters in London, YUDU Media offers advanced digital publishing with its YUDU Pro solution (www.yudupro.com), and a free digital publishing and content marketplace (www.yudu.com). YUDU ePublishing solutions can be used to create digital magazines, brochures, catalogs, newspapers, eBooks and more, and these digital editions retain the same quality look as printed publications. Incorporating rich media such as video and audio, YUDU publications are also fully indexable by search engines and provide publishers with detailed statistics on readership.
YUDU also announced today the industry's first cross-platform self-publishing solution, enabling its YUDU Pro customers to create their own digital publications that are viewable on the web, iPad and iPhone via custom-built branded apps. This is the first stage towards YUDU's "publish once, view everywhere" approach, which represents a major breakthrough in digital publishing that will help publishers expand their reach into new content channels. Self-publishing abilities for all other major eReader and mobile devices will follow in the coming months. Read the news release here.
YUDU began marketing its solution in the US in 2009 and its customer base has grown swiftly -- current customers include Carnival Cruise Lines, Cunard US, Distinctive Homes Magazine, Quicksilver, Stanford University, The American Legion, Time Inc. and the US Chamber of Commerce. According to Richard Stephenson, Chairman & CEO of YUDU, US customers currently account for more than half of YUDU's overall revenue. In late 2009, YUDU announced that Quad/Graphics, the largest privately held printer in the United States, became a minority shareholder in YUDU, entering into a partnership agreement that saw Quad/Graphics add YUDU's digital publishing solution to its range of products.
"The US market represents a tremendous growth area for YUDU, and the Boston area in particular is a great place to be for technology and publishing," said Stephenson. "We've had some early success in the US with customers like Carnival Cruise Lines and Time Inc., and are excited to expand our US presence. We anticipate hiring as many as 10 additional people in the US by the end of 2010."
YUDU's US sales efforts are lead by Rob Gallagher, Vice President of US Sales. Gallagher joined YUDU from Zinio, where he was Senior Sales Director, and has spent the past 10 years working in both the print and digital publishing sectors.
"Having worked in this space for many years, I understand the dynamics publishers are facing and also what's been lacking in other digital publishing solutions in the US market," said Gallagher. "What attracted me to YUDU was not just their technology, which is outstanding, but also their culture of innovation, entrepreneurial spirit and strong commitment to customer success."
YUDU's Cambridge office is located at 245 First Street, 18th Floor, Cambridge, MA 02142. The company can be reached by telephone at 1-888-FOR-YUDU.
