Digital Element Announces Plant Constructor

Software allows the design of plants for Verdant Photoshop plugin By Dave Nagel
Digital Element has announced a new application called Verdant Plant Constructor. The new software is a standalone application that allows users to build plants for use with the Verdant plugin for Adobe Photoshop. The company says it expects to release the software in January and that it will be available initially for Windows.

Verdant is a plugin for Photoshop that allows you to manipulate and render 3D plants. The new Plant Constructor complements this plugin by allowing for the creation of 3D plant models. It exports models to the 3ds and obj file formats. According to Digital Element, the company is also working on an update to the Verdant plugin that will support more formats, as well as new versions for SoftImage, Maya, 3ds Max and LightWave.

Verdant Plant Constructor will be available initially for Windows in January for $249. No date has been set for a Mac release. The Verdant plugin supports Photoshop on Mac OS X and Windows. For more information, visit
