Digital Delivery Platform for Mercury Learning and Information

Mercury Learning and Information, a provider of print and digital content in the areas of science and health, technology, engineering, and mathematics, introduced its digital delivery platform that will enable the direct purchase or downloading of electronic books, videos, and ancillary items to its customers. Now, instructors, students, professionals, and consumers can view MLI content on a variety of devices including the PC, MAC, Android, iPad, and iPhone, and its titles can also be viewed or sold by individual chapter, rented, or downloaded as examination copies for potential course adoptionswithout the use of third-party vendors.

MLI partnered with CloudView Technologies Inc. of Oklahoma City to create a secure platform using the Adobe® Content Server®, the digital rights management application of choice for most content providers of digital products. The new platform application, called Author Cloudware (http://www.authorcloudware.com), enables publishers to register, upload and store content, and sell directly to their customers and users.

We are delighted to offer our authors and customers a secure digital platform for direct delivery of our electronic products, said David Pallai, president and founder of Mercury Learning and Information. Although we will continue to use our current electronic vendors, we are now able to offer titles directly to our students and customers at reasonable prices, to pay higher royalties to our authors, and to reduce our manufacturing costs and production schedules. Using the new platform, we will also release our first talking books, custom course materials, and rental model titles for the online and distance education markets. The Author Cloudware platform has given us the opportunity to compete with our formidable competitors in the digital markets--without years of development and exorbitant costs.
