Digital Artist Dennison Joins R!ot Santa MonicaFirst project is for the American Film Institute (June 09, 2004)
Mark Dennison, a digital artist with a strong following among leading commercial directors and an extensive list of awards, has joined R!OT Santa Monica as Senior Visual Effects Artist. He arrives from Mixin Pixels in Santa Monica, where his credits included the Visa ?Kangaroo Dreams spot for BBDO New York, which won the AICP Excellence Award.
?Mark is a very skillful artist and he has earned the trust and respect of some of the most talented creatives in the commercial industry, said R!OT Santa Monica Managing Director Marcie Malooly. Since the announcement of his joining R!OT, Dennison has been off to a quick and noteworthy start. His first project is the American Film Institutes high profile television special counting down the top 100 songs in American Movies, "AFI'S 100 Years...100 Songs: Americas Greatest Music in the Movies." Partnering with Designer Mia Szafran, they are creating the opening and title sequences for the special which airs Tuesday, June 22 on the CBS television network.
As a co-founder of Mixin Pixels in 1998, Dennison worked on national commercials for Boeing, Occidental Petroleum, Chevrolet, Acura and Verizon, among other top tier brands, garnering multiple national and international honors for graphics and visual effects work. His awards include the AICP Excellence Award; three London International Advertising Award Finalists for Television/Cinema Special Effects; the Telly Award for Best Visual Effects; two International Monitor Awards, one for Best Promo and the other for Best Electronic Special Effects; and a Silver Medal for Best Computer Animation from the Annual Film and Television Festival of New York.
?I am excited about joining the world-class team of talent at R!OT, and working with the latest technology and tools, stated Dennison. In his bay, he will be working on both the Smoke Tezro and Henry platforms. In joining R!OT, Dennison is also eager to work on Digital Intermediates and the creative opportunities the process provides.
Dennison began his career, as a telecine artist and computer graphic artist at Trans-American Video in Hollywood, where he received his first Emmy Award nomination for the animated open of Disneys childrens television show ?Kaleidoscope Concerts. From there, he went on to Complete Post in Hollywood, as an editor and lead graphic artist, garnering three additional Emmy nominations and winning the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Graphic Design and Title Sequences for ?Caroline in the City.
