Digital Anarchy Releases None16 Codec

Free QuickTime codec provides 16-bit color support By Dave Nagel
Digital Anarchy has released None16, a new codec for Apple's QuickTime technology that provides 16-bit-per-channel support for uncompressed video. It's available now for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows.

None16 is similar to the standard None QuickTime codec in that it does not compress video footage, but it also adds support for video with color in 16 bits per channel, allowing users to work with 64-bit RGBA files. It requires QuickTime 5 or later and runs on Macintosh and Intel-based Windows systems. Digital Anarchy also offers Microcosm, a 64-bit RGBA codec that provides lossless compression for archiving or transferring footage between systems.

None16 is available now as a free download for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows. Microcosm runs $99. For more information, visit http://www.digitalanarchy.com.
