DesignMentor Training Publishes The Interactive Photography Exposure Wheel, the first in a series of free e-learning tools

DesignMentor Training's Photography Exposure Wheel-a learning tool for taking digital photos from blasť to brilliant! (August 22, 2006)

The first in a series of design tools published by DesignMentor Training, the interactive Photography Exposure Wheel has just been made publicly available and is free. The DesignMentor Training Photography Exposure Wheel provides f-stop and shutter settings for a variety of outdoor shooting conditions and film speeds. It has been developed by DesignMentor Training in collaboration with master photographer and DesignMentor Training Class Instructor, Ken Milburn.

As the design industry continues to get more and more competitive, creatives increasingly rely on new tools to give them an edge. DesignMentor Training's Photography Exposure Wheel (http://training.sessions.edu/design-tools/photography-exposure-wheel.asp) helps photographers recognize that subtle changes in camera settings can result in dramatic changes that can take a photograph from blasť to brilliant. Making the Exposure Wheel more user-friendly, co-creator, Ken Milburn has critiqued many outdoor photos and associated them with the Exposure Wheel settings, providing context for the otherwise abstract set of f-stop and shutter speed setting options. DesignMentor Training offers Creative Professionals the means to add advanced Digital Photography skills to their portfolios through three instructor-led online digital classes. The classes challenge photographers with hands-on projects using classic photography assignments that improve composition, teach Photoshop techniques for color correction of digital images, and work with RAW format photos in Photoshop CS2 to gain greater artistic control over 'digital negatives'.

While some students use the program to add to their creative skill-set others enroll to make the move from serious hobbyist to working professional. Students learn to shoot news, action, still-life, scenic, candid and location shots with their digital cameras. Ken Milburn teaches students to edit RAW images using Photoshop CS2 for the highest quality digital output. Ken guides students through technical and creative challenges. Class projects include news, action, still-life, scenic, candid and location photos, plus printing and compositing. Students gain new digital photography skills and have their work critiqued and improved with Ken's expertise.

When asked about the value of the education students receive at Design Mentor Training, Ken Milburn said , "DesignMentor offers students one-on-one contact with the teacher and the ability to learn on their own time, regardless of their other obligations in life. Come to think of it, that's why I like teaching as DesignMentor!"

Ken Milburn is a professional photographer and leading expert in digital photography. Ken's extensive photographic career has ranged from starlet publicity photos for Universal Pictures, to album covers, advertising, and editorial work for the TV Guide and Los Angeles Times Sunday Magazine. His work has been featured in Design Graphics Magazine and Computer Graphics World. Ken is the principal author of 20 computer and photography books including Digital Photography: Expert Techniques from O'Reilly Associates, and The Digital Photography Bible from Wiley and Sons, and several books on Photoshop techniques. Ken has written more than 300 articles on digital media, featured in Publish, DV Magazine, MacWorld, Computer Graphics World, PC World, and InfoWorld.
