Daz To Release Mimic 2.0 Pro in MayDaz|Studio slated for summer release
Details on both applications are a bit sparse at the moment. Daz says that after purchasing Mimic from LIPSinc, the company spent seven months beefing up the software and getting it ready for a second-generation release, which will come in two forms: Mimic 2.0 and Mimic 2.0 Pro. The 1.0 version was designed specifically for working with Curious Labs' Poser and could synchronize lip movement based solely on sound files (no motion capture data needed). It generates position data and automatically links timing and mouth position. "The original was quite basic, and this new version has quite a bit more punch to it," said a company spokesman.
Daz|Studio, meanwhile, is still in alpha, though Daz expects a formal release sometime this summer. A company spokesman said it will initially be released as a free public beta. The first iteration of the Daz|Studio will be designed to render scenes from Poser and modify scenes once the files are imported into Studio. Posing, animation, model import and other features will follow "soon after the first beta release," according to Daz. Advanced options--animation tools, cloth dynamics and translation tools--will be sold separately.
Both Mimic 2.0 and Daz|Studio will support Mac OS X and Windows. Mimic 2.0 will sell for $79.95, while Mimic 2.0 Pro will go for $199.95. For more information, visit http://www.daz3d.com.
