Dailymotion And Original iPhone Film Festival Partner To Give Mobile Motion Pictures Their Moment

Leading Video Sharing Site Provides Global Platform for Booming iOS Filmmaking Community (October 10, 2011)
DMN Newswire--2011-10-10--Dailymotion, the world's largest independent video streaming site generating more than 114 million monthly unique visitors worldwide, today announced it is teaming up with the Original iPhone Film Festival (OIFF) to showcase the film chops of the Apple iOS community.

Open to any filmmaking enthusiast with an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad2, the Original iPhone Film Festival showcases the films of the iPhone filmmaker community and encourages aspiring videographers to tell their stories by utilizing the "film studio in their pocket" - the cutting-edge Apple iOS devices that break down the barriers to personal filmmaking.  Participants can submit short videos in four categories: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Brand Films and Music Videos and have the opportunity to win stellar prizes like a Macbook Air, iPad 2, Apple TVs and more.

Videos will be reviewed by a panel of veteran industry professionals including members of Maroon 5, author/creative director Jimmy Siegel, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Lasse Hallstrom, technology guru and NY Times columnist David Pogue, Macworld editorial director Jason Snell, Oscar-winning documentary director Cynthia Wade, Broadway producer David J. Foster, legendary cinematographer Caleb Deschanel and more.

The contest runs through October 31st and participants can submit their short films through dai.ly/originaliphonefilmfestival. In early November, Dailymotion will display the category winners and will give fans a chance to vote for the Grand Prize Film.  Submitted videos will instantly be available to Dailymotion's mobile viewers who have contributed to 37 million monthly mobile video views worldwide.

"We are seeing immense growth in mobile viewing and content uploaded through iOS and other mobile devices on Dailymotion.  We are ecstatic to be working with an organization dedicated to helping mobile become a more viable place to view and create high quality content," says Roland Hamilton, managing director of Dailymotion.

""We're thrilled that Dailymotion is partnering with us to help showcase and support the burgeoning iPhone filmmaker community. With its deep reach both in the US and internationally, we are able to extend our invitation to an even larger audience which is really exciting," says OIFF founders Matt Dessner and Corey Rogers. "Participants are going to have a great time making these videos and are going to receive incredible exposure as easy as shoot, edit and upload."
