Dabble for iPad: 84-year-old Inventor Celebrates his First App Launch

  (August 19, 2011)

Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) August 19, 2011

At 84 years of age, George Weiss may just be the eldest mobile app inventor in America. Today, he celebrates the release of his first app 'Dabble - The Fast Thinking Word Game,' available now for iPhone and iPad.

Since receiving his first patent in 1958, Weiss spent more than 50 years tinkering in his Brooklyn basement workshop. Weiss finally was able to see one of his inventions brought to market earlier this year when his 'Dabble' board game was produced by Ideas Never Implemented (INI) and picked up for distribution by Barnes & Noble.

And now, just a few short months later, he's celebrating the release of 'Dabble - The Fast Thinking Word Game' as a mobile game.

I have been waiting for this day since 1958, said Weiss. Even though a lot of things have changed since then, people still love to play a good game and theyll be able to do that anywhere they go now that 'Dabble' is on the iPad.

After being tapped by INI, app studios Flashy Substance and Itch.com used Ansca Mobiles Corona SDK game engine to bring 'Dabble' to the Apple App Store. Earlier this year, Corona SDK was used by 14-year-old Robert Nay of Utah to build Bubble Ball, which knocked out Angry Birds to become the #1 free game on iPhone.

Ansca Mobile co-founder Carlos Icaza says the company is honored to be part of the 'Dabble' journey.

Weve always said Corona lets you spend more time creating and less time figuring out how to create your dream game, said Icaza. With 'Dabble,' we have yet another example of an ingenious game idea being brought to life on the mobile platform in a matter of weeks using Corona. Its quite a distinction for us to have been chosen for this!

'Dabble' has received numerous industry awards including the 2011 Game of The Year Award by Creative Child Magazine and the 2011 PAL Award for games that encourage language skills through fun play. Many players are already declaring Dabble as an instant classic alongside games like Scrabble and Bananagrams.

I never gave up, added Weiss. And now, I have the satisfaction of knowing that I didn't waste all those years!

About Ideas Never Implemented
In 2003 Jay Vohra formed Ideas Never Implemented (http://www.inillc.com) because he didn't want his idea to become another "couldve, shouldve." Even though he knew very little about the board game industry, he decided to leave the corporate world and follow his heart to invest in his idea and dream. Today, INI owns and manages the distribution for their own line of I've Never games and is now the marketing and distribution platform for 'Dabble - The Fast Thinking Word Game.'
