DVD Studio Pro Gets Update

Apple's DVD Studio Pro has received an update to version 1.1. According to an article on, the latest release adds improved detection and handling of Final Cut Pro unrendered sequences, improved optimization of the encoding process to more efficiently allocate the specified bit rate, an updated user manual and a number of additional enhancements. It also adds support for certain third-party external storage devices that contain Pioneers DVR-A03 DVD Recordable Drive.

According to Apple's product information page, new devices that get support in version 1.1 include:

  • QPS: Pioneer DVDR-103/a03 (firmware 1.31), Initio bridge
  • LaCie: Pioneer DVDR-103/a03 (firmware 1.44), Oxford FW911 bridge (rev 1.30)
  • EasyQuest: Pioneer DVDR-103/a03 (firmware 1.44), Indigita bridge.

No word on which specific bug fixes have been implemented. User have had a number of problems with DVD Studio Pro, including a lack of audio sync in preview, a "resume" feature that appears to crash set-top DVD players and some problems with languages also relating to the "resume" function.
