DR Group Installs Final Cut Pro Suites at Gas Station ZebraAssignment marks launch of company's facility planning service for digital media providers (April 22, 2005)
The DR Group, the entertainment industry's total solution provider for Final Cut Pro products, services and consulting, announced today it has completed the installation of five Final Cut Pro powered editing suites, infrastructure for future expansion and a fully-integrated machine room for editorial trailer house Gas Station Zebra. The assignment marks the launch of DR Consulting, The DR Group's new facility planning service for digital media providers.
Located in four separate buildings, the rooms are all interconnected allowing for fast, cross-facility coordination. DR Consulting designed all elements of the installation, including selecting the optimum mix of equipment and software, developing the electrical strategies and working with SBC to enable the machine room to deliver trailers fiber optically to clients. Following approval of the design, DR Consulting built out the unique facility to the agreed upon specifications.
"The ability to move media seamlessly between the edit bays and the machine room, even though they are in separate buildings, greatly enhances our ability to work in the fastest and most efficient manner possible," said Jason Levine, President of Gas Station Zebra. "This was an extremely complex job with more potential pitfalls than we could have possibly anticipated and we are both impressed and very satisfied with DR Consulting's ability to plan and implement this ambitious project."
With the launch of DR Consulting following last month's introduction of its DRaid storage drive, The DR Group continues to broaden its scope of operations from a service provider and VAR to becoming a manufacturer and strategic consultant. Led by company founder and digital entertainment thought leader Lowell Kay, DR Consulting can handle all aspects of facility planning from advising on hardware and software systems to developing electrical strategies to installing the wiring. The new unit represents the company's formalization of its years of experience assisting companies in the design and construction of their post facilities.
"Final Cut Pro is increasingly the platform of choice for post production facilities and we are pleased to have had the opportunity to work with Gas Station Zebra on this assignment," said Kay. "With our long history working with the product both as a reseller and provider of studio and location-based rental systems, we are able to bring a comprehensive understanding of the software and related systems to our new DR Consulting unit. Clients can expect smart solutions and excellent service."
