DMN Podcast Episode 24: Blackmagic Design's Grant Petty

Petty talks 3Gb/second solutions By David Basulto

If you have ever been perplexed as a media provider of getting your recently shot, amazing looking footage into the computer of your choice, you are not alone. ?What should I use? Hmm FireWire looks good. What about renting a deck? How can I get it imported with the least amount of loss?

These questions plagued my mind when I purchased my new Mac Pro. After searching long and hard I really fell in love with the products from Blackmagic Design. They are top notch and cutting edge. Their price points include every demographic in the media industry from high end studios to indie filmmakers.

BlackMagic Design recently shipped several solutions sporting 3Gb/second SDI connections: the Multibridge Eclipse , which features 3Gb/second  SDI, HDMI and analog editing with 16 channels of audio; HDLink Pro, a full resolution HDTV and 2K Film Monitoring that features 3Gb/second  SDI for 2K, HD, and SD support;  and the Multibridge Pro, which offers  HDMI and analog video inputs and outputs, multi-channel audio, and 3Gb/second SDI, targeted at broadcast and post production professionals.

Today I had the pleasure of speaking to the always entertaining Grant Petty, Mr. Blackmagic Design himself. We discuss the new buzz word 3Gb. Enjoy.
