DK utilizes their expertise in animation to create clever transitions from a bland classroom setting to animated sports games. This: 30 spot shows adrenaline filled sports competitions with live players competing against animated figures. DK is lauded for their use of animated graphics and live-action and lends their knowledge in this field to Dick's Sporting Goods to create this energetic spot.
"Game Day" begins in a stark classroom filled with disengaged students. As the camera scans the feet of the restless high-school students a note is being passed over a soccer ball while a male student is doodling "Game Day" on the outside of his green notebook. As the student scribbles a play, the camera zooms into the notebook as it morphs into an action packed football game. The scene cuts into a lively football game. As the crowd roars, a player suited in football equipment from head to toe plays against an animated team.
The spot transitions back to the classroom where a teacher is drawing a chemical equation on a green chalkboard. The equation filters into an action-packed soccer field. The animated soccer ball leads the viewer into the midst of an intense soccer game. The energetic green scene focuses on a live player as he aims towards the goal. A voice chimes in stating, "game day, waiting is the hardest part". The spot closes displaying the Dick's logo and the tagline "Every season starts at Dicks Sporting Goods".
