DFT Releases Light! 2.0, Ozone 2.0Photoshop filters gain workflow improvements, new adjustments
Light! allows users to add lighting to a scene where none existed before. Users select areas of the image, and then both light and shadow can be introduced. The plugin includes pre-built shape and texture libraries, including windows, doors, leaves and abstract patterns. Users can also add their own shapes and patterns to the library to create custom lighting effects. Light 2.0 includes a new interface with redesigned controls and a new zoom feature. It now offers the ability to load and save settings and adds 50 new shapes and textures. It sells for $50.
Ozone uses a system that the company refers to as "the Digital Zone System." Essentially, the software reads the luminance values--as well as R, G, B, C, M and Y--in an image and divides them into 11 separate zones using proprietary "image slicing" algorithms. (Each zone in the system is twice as bright as the preceding zone.) Then the user can adjust each zone independently for color and brightness. The software works in RGB, CMYK, Lab and grayscale color spaces. Ozone 2.0 adds a new user interface and zoom controls, new zone selection methods, zone gamma and contrast adjustments and the ability to load and save settings. It sells for $50.
