DAZ3D Studio 1.7Fit character animation into Carrerra
By creating layouts that look similar to the workspaces in Carrerra or Hexagon, DAZStudio 1.7 hopes to capture your 3D character animation work as well. The models that are available for the software are really quite dynamic. Bending them to your will is also quite dynamic. With a system of puppetry called PowerPose (previously called "Pantomime"), animating the models into specific animation targets is quick, and doesn't require much tweeking to achieve great IK movement.
Another method to manipulate your models comes in the form of the Puppeteer tool. By setting a series of GUI dots, you can animate by dragging references from point to point.
One of the more impressive technical features of DAZ Studio 1.7 is the introduction of Collada export availability - a great opensource way to get your 3D data out to other applications.
There are many more features which make this software an interesting addition to your character design toolset - but with a pricetag of "free", maybe you should just try it out yourself. www.daz3d.com
