Curious Labs Ships Poser 5 for Mac OS XSoftware adds cloth simulation, hair and face setup rooms
Poser 5 includes a fairly vast number and range of new features, including a revamped render engine, which Curious Labs terms a "hybrid micro-polygon and [raytracing] render engine." It includes subdivision surface rendering, render-time polygon smoothing, displacement mapping, 3D motion blur, depth of field and procedural textures. Other new features include:
- Shader Trees with material nodes;
- Raytraced refraction and reflection;
- Dynamic hair with growth, styling and physics controls;
- Dynamic cloth with physics;
- Photo-based facial mapping;
- Morph Putty tool for interactive sculpting;
- Hierarchical parameters palette with parameter grouping;
- Hierarchical libraries;
- Collision detection.
The Mac OS X version of Poser 5 is available now through electronic delivery for an introductory price of $199. (It normally sells for $349.) Upgrades from Poser 1, 2 or 3 run $169.
