Cube-Tec Releases ‘CubeDVD-A’ For AudioCube 5 System

(October 03, 2001)
CubeDVD-A is a comprehensive DVD-Audio authoring module for the new Cube-Tec AudioCube 5 digital audio workstation. Developed in cooperation with Nippon Columbia Co. Ltd., CubeDVD-A is the first commercially available authoring package supporting Version 1.2 of the DVD-Audio Standard. CubeDVD-A supports all sample rates and Bit resolutions available within the current DVD-Audio standard, including 24 bit /192 kHz in 2-channel and 24 bit / 96 kHz in multi-channel formats.

CubeDVD-A is capable of reading 'Audio Assets' that have been mastered with Nuendo, without file format conversion, with immediate production of encoded DVD-Audio according to the CPPM Process 1 (Copy Pro tection for Prerecorded Media). In addition, production of DVD-Audio with 8.5 GB dual layer DVD-9 is fully supported, as is MLP (Meridian Lossless Packing), SMART (System Managed Audio Resource Technique), 4C / Verance Watermark and all other Version 1.2 Standard audio functions.

CubeDVD-A supports interleaved AIFFs, MLP encoded audio streams and the direct importation of mono WAV and AIFF files, eliminating the awkward conversion of mono files into an interleaved AIFF stream. A new tool for testing menus allows one to check all button commands, the “colorizing” of highlighted areas and the navigational behavior of remote control buttons.

CubeDVD-A is DVD-Video compatible. An authored VIDEO_TS Folder can be delivered from a standard DVD-Video authoring system and included in CubeDVD-A to produce a DVD which is playable on both DVD-Video and DVD-Audio players. It will integrate the folder into the disc image and a layer break for 8.5 GB dual layer DVD-9 can be assigned automatically, or manually. CubeDVD-A also makes use of the imported video streams to create AVTTs to combine DVD-Video elements with the high resolution audio content of the DVD-A. CubeDVD-A files can be written to Digital Linear Tape (DLT), and/or Disc Images. With an optional DVD-R Burner, media can be produced for immediate playback on DVD-A players for quality control and evaluation purposes.
