Crestron Ships 2-Series Control Systems

Features new dual-bus control engine (December 17, 2001)
Crestron has begun shipping its new 2-Series control systems, with the first units to be installed by dealer HB Communications of Connecticut. Programming of these PRO2 models have been completed at Crestron's headquarters in Rockleigh and installation will commence in mid-December.

Also available on the "What's New" section of the company's website is the software needed to utilize the power of the 2-Series, SIMPL Windows 2.0. Crestron is accepting orders from dealers for the new PRO2 and AV2 control systems immediately.

All new 2-Series systems that are shipping have been rigorously tested and retested and are ready to take the market by storm, says the company. At the core of the 2-Series is the revolutionary new dual-bus control engine.

This completely redesigned architecture is based on the new 257 MIPS, 32-bit Motorola ColdFire processor. Onboard 36MB memory is enhanced with a 4GB expansion slot that supports off-the-shelf Type II compact flash memory and the IBM Microdrive hard disk drive, allowing on-board storage of program and touchpanel files, room and equipment profiles, firmware, upgrades, databases and schedules.
