Creo Shows Printing Wares at Graph Expo

Lineup includes Veris and Integris proofing tools By Dave Nagel
Creo is showing a variety of new and forthcoming technologies at this week's Graph Expo in Chicago. The new lineup includes Veris and Integris proofing solutions, as well as new Synapse Link software and a screened-composite alternative to spot color inks.

The upcoming Varis proofer is a 1,500 x 1,500 DPI device with "Multi-Drop Array" inkjet head imaging technology. It's designed to integrate with a network print production environment using Prinerggy or Brisque, and it can be used directly from Macintosh or Windows workstations and uses open standards such as PDF, JDF and XML. It can run up to 40 proofs continuously with unattended operation. The Veris proofer will be available in early 2003.

The new Integris is a proofing solution that integrates inkjet printers into Creo workflows. It combines the Integris Proof Controller and certified ink and media and supports the Epson Stylus Pro 7600 and 9600 printers. It works with Creo's Brisque and Prinergy workflow environments.

Creo is also showing its new "Spotless" technology. Spotless allows for the printing of a range of spot colors without using spot color inks, using a six-color screened composite instead. The company says the process can save 5 percent on costs on sheet-fed presses. The screened technology will be available in Prinergy systems next year.

The company has also launched its new Synapse Link software for the automatic exchange of prepress production data between database-driven print production systems and management information systems. Synapse Link software collects and delivers production data using JDF, sending actual production data and job status information from the Prinergy workflow management system directly to the Printcafe Hagen OA management information system. Other JDF-compatible MIS systems will also be able to interface through Synapse Link.
