CreamWare To Deliver Luna II 3.0 and AD/DA Converter

CreamWare has announced version 3.0 of its Luna II software for its DSP-based I/O card. The company says it will also ship a new version of its 24-bit AD/DA converter, the A16 Ultra. Both are expected to be available in November.

The CreamWare A16 Ultra is a 24-bit, 96 kHz 16-channel converter. Its 16 inputs and 16 outputs are balanced analog TRS, and the unit includes two ADAT interfaces. It features S/Mux for ADAT conversion at 96 kHz (8-channels), two Z-Link interfaces (16 channels at 24-bit / 96 kHz), Wordclock I/O and 16 VU meters for signal leveling.

Expansion options are also planned for the A16 Ultra, which is a 19" unit designed to occupy a single rack space. These include an add-in board to extend S-Mux functionality to 16 channels and a USB 2.0 option.

The A16 Ultra will be available in November for about $1,140.

CreamWare's Luna II 3.0 is the latest version of the company's software for it Luna II DSP-based I/O card. The new software package includes a collection of new DSP effects, which are computed in realtime by the Luna card's three SHARC DSPs. Effects included in the new release are MasterVerb (reverb), chorus, flanger, phaser, compressor, limiter, gate, EQ and various delay effects. All effects use the same 32-bit algorithms employed by the larger CreamWare DSP systems.

The new version also benefits from improvements to the user interface, especially with regard to plugins, according to the company.

Other improvements to Luna II's software include:

  • Revision of the Luna Recording Mixer and the 5.1 Surround Mixer.
  • Development of an ASIO driver with 64 channels.
  • AC3 Dolby Surround digital output via S/PDIF.
  • Accelerated graphics.

Luna II 3.0 software will be available for about $90 ion November. The Luna II board runs about $410. The update will available free of charge to those who have purchased Luna II during the four week period preceding the release of version 3.0 software. For more information, visit
