LOS ANGELES (AP) ' Los Angeles County coroner's officials are investigating the death of a 5-year-old girl whose mother is accused of drowning her sister and trying to kill her.
Coroner's Lt. Larry Deitz says Marian Taque Valle (VY'-ay) was declared brain dead on Sunday and her death is being investigated as a homicide.
She was removed from life support and her organs were harvested on Wednesday.
The girl's father told Los Angeles police that he discovered his wife trying to drown Marian and her 1-year-old sister, Lindsay, in a tub on Feb. 15. The younger girl died a few hours later.
Their mother, 32-year-old Lorna Valle is charged with murdering the 1-year-old. She could face additional charges now that the other girl has died.
