Corel Includes Photo-Paint, CorelDraw with HP Scanners

Packages targeted toward Mac OS X users By Dave Nagel
Corel is once again upping its bid for a higher share of the Macintosh market. The company today announced that it's bundling two of its core applications--CorelDraw 10 and Photo-Paint 10 for Macintosh--with Hewlett-Packard's Scanjet 7400 series of scanners. Both applications support Mac OS X.

According to Corel, Photo-Paint 10 will be bundled with all of the models in the 7400 series of Scanjet scanners, while CorelDraw 10 will be included only with the 7400c model. Both applications are part of Corel's Graphics Suite. oth were released as standalonne applications for Mac OS X and Mac OS 8/9 in November 2001.

CorelDraw 10 is a vector illustration and page layout application. Photo-Paint is an image editing, compositing and painting application that also supports Photoshop-compatible plugins. CorelDRAW 10 includes a customizable user interface, color management tools and enhancements to drawing and interactive tools over previous versions. It also includes CorelTRACE, which converts bitmap images into vector images.

As standalone applications, Corel Photo-Paint and CorelDraw run $249 and $349, respectively. Bundles will be localized in English, French and German. For more information, visit or
