CoreTrace Announces First Enterprise-Ready Application Whitelisting Solution for Mac and LinuxBOUNCER by CoreTrace Keeps Enterprises Secure With Cross-Platform Application Whitelisting Coverage for Mac, Linux and Windows (January 25, 2011)
AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 01/25/11 -- CoreTrace®, the leading provider of cross-platform application whitelisting solutions, today announced the industry's first enterprise-ready application whitelisting solution for Mac and Linux endpoints. The company's award-winning BOUNCER 6 product is the only solution that provides application whitelisting's three key benefits -- advanced threat prevention, configuration control, and application intelligence -- on the three major platforms of Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Adoption of Mac and Linux platforms in the enterprise are increasing exponentially, as is and the changing nature and severity of malware attacks on these platforms. In the past, when attacks were designed for maximum damage and exposure, platforms like the Mac OS were considered safer simply because there were fewer systems to exploit. Attackers are now targeting specific information and/or users, regardless of the system they are on, which is rapidly driving the need to secure the devices that were previously believed to be safe.
"As enterprise endpoints expand beyond Windows to include platforms such as Mac OS and Linux, security and control of these critical endpoints must expand as well," said Scott Crawford, research director for Enterprise Management Associates. "For Mac and Linux systems, BOUNCER from CoreTrace allows IT teams to establish a foundation of proactive protection for these systems, rather than simply porting over reactive solutions that have been proven ineffective against today's threats."
With this announcement, CoreTrace's new BOUNCER 6 solution will cover all major versions of Windows, Macs running Leopard and Snow Leopard, and Linux distributions from companies such as Red Hat, Suse and Ubuntu. Additionally, BOUNCER 6 continues to support Solaris implementations.
"True enterprise-ready application whitelisting requires cross-platform support and we are proud to be the only vendor offering this," said Toney Jennings, president and CEO of CoreTrace. "BOUNCER's three primary benefits -- advanced threat protection, configuration control, and intelligence about all installed application -- can now help IT and security teams across all three key platforms."
BOUNCER 6 Mac and Linux clients will be generally available in March 2011. Pricing starts at $35 per desktop and is also available for servers.
