Core Networks Launches CoreEnsemble for Cable OperatorsHome network management system for broadband service providers (June 14, 2004)
Core Networks, a global leader in operations support system (OSS) solutions for the broadband industry, today announced the newest release of its CoreEnsemble home network management system, now integrated with enCore, the company's new leading-edge platform for serving millions of broadband subscribers. This latest release of CoreEnsemble offers service providers a highly scalable and flexible engine for delivering and managing home networking services. Capable of supporting millions of home subscribers, CoreEnsemble combines critical management functions with unprecedented ease of use to drive down support costs while offering additional revenue potential from services to the home.
CoreEnsemble is built on the new enCore platform, which is the foundation for a comprehensive suite of next-generation network management tools being rolled out by Core Networks. enCore provides a common software platform across both cable and DSL and is designed to give service providers an integrated set of tools to manage increasing complex network demands. enCore addresses today's network requirements to manage millions of subscribers and the proliferation of advanced, bandwidth-hungry services.
Designed to provide complete monitoring and management of CableHome -compliant residential gateways and networked devices on the home or small-office (SOHO) LAN, CoreEnsemble significantly broadens the number and variety of services cable operators can make available to subscribers. New features in CoreEnsemble include support for CableHome 1.1 residential gateways, auto-discovery of devices on the network, an open interface to existing OSS/provisioning systems, and a graphical user interface that makes operations simple and intuitive.
"The challenge that broadband service providers continue to face is how to manage growing numbers of subscribers and services, and the answer is more efficient operations and management systems," said Craig Soderquist, CEO of Core Networks. "Core Networks' solutions in the new enCore suite are addressing that exact issue. The latest release of CoreEnsemble simplifies network management, makes the operation more intuitive, and provides the flexibility and scalability to add new services and expand the network as needed."
This latest release of CoreEnsemble extends the product's advanced management functions, previously available only for DSL providers, to top-tier cable operators as well.
CoreEnsemble offers comprehensive management tools including control over the home network and operator-managed, value-added services such as firewall security, parental controls, high-speed cable and wireless access, video, telephony, and other broadband- related services for the residential or small-office subscriber. Some key capabilities include the ability to enable or disable devices and interfaces on the network (including wireless), enable or disable applications, control the number of applications and devices behind the residential gateway, as well as modify application security parameters, thus allowing service providers to treat advanced services as individual revenue-generating options.
