Contour Named Forbes' 14th Most Promising Company in America

Contour Included in Prestigious List of 100 Up-and-Coming Companies in America (December 01, 2011)

SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/01/11 -- Contour ( was honored today as one of Forbes' Most Promising Companies of 2011. Founded in 2003, Contour has quickly become synonymous with hands-free, POV cameras and social video tools, earning accolades including RED Dot's famous design award, the INC. 500 list and CNET's Editor's Choice award for their Bluetooth and GPS integrated technology. Out of 100 companies, Contour was awarded the number 14 slot capping a year of notable growth.

"To be selected by Forbes as one of America's Most Promising companies is great affirmation of the work we've put in to making Contour great -- as a product and as a company," said Marc Barros. "Contour's growth stems from our passion to deliver the best solution in capturing and sharing action videos in a fun and easy way. We're honored to be included with such an amazing list."

Forbes' list of America's Most Promising Companies features 100 privately held up-and-comers with compelling business models, strong management teams, notable customers, strategic partners and precious investment capital.

"Sizing up younger, privately held companies is hard: Their fortunes can change very quickly and there's a dearth of public data," says Forbes Executive Editor Brett Nelson. "We took a more comprehensive approach to evaluate their health and potential."

To sharpen its search, Forbes teamed up with CB Insights, a Manhattan-based data firm that tracks investment in high-growth private companies. With $650,000 in grants from the National Science Foundation, CB has developed complex software called Mosaic that mines myriad online sources (from press releases and social networks to job boards and court filings) to come up with one, algorithmically derived score that measures a private company's health. Forbes married Mosaic's data-crunching with old-fashioned reporting to assemble a list of rising stars with bright growth prospects. To view the complete list, please visit
