Conoa Brings 3D Primitives to FCP, AEUpdated plugin set improves rendering speed
According to the company, the new 1.6 version of Conoa improves rendering speed and quality. Its renderer supports 12 geometric primitive shapes (up to six at a time in a composition) that can be arbitrarily placed in 3D space. The shapes are rendered with a raytracing engine that supports texture mapping, reflections, refractions, Phong shading, specular highlights, reflection mapping, bump mapping, multiple material models and more. The company says any media layer from the video editor can be applied to any shape as a texture map or reflection map. Shapes can intersect each other and any shape can cast a shadow onto any other. Partially opaque surfaces correctly cast variable density shadows. The Conoa renderer also supports 16 bit per channel color.
The entire Conoa plugin set is available now for $299 and supports Adobe After Effects 4.1 and higher, Apple Final Cut Pro and other video systems that accept After Effects plugins. Conoa will also work on Avid systems through the use of Elastic Gasket from Profound Effects. Conoa is available for Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and Windows. Demo versions are also available.
