CompanionLink Provides Alternatives for Microsoft Exchange Sync

Google Sync Service Gives Options for Those Locked Out of Mobile Device Compatibility (June 22, 2009)

PORTLAND, OR -- (Marketwire) -- 06/22/09 -- CompanionLink® Software, a leader in synchronization solutions, touts their Google(TM) Sync compatible product line as an alternative to Microsoft® ActiveSync® for Microsoft Exchange users. PC users who need their contacts and calendar on their mobile phones can use CompanionLink along with the free Google Sync service for complete two-way synchronization. CompanionLink allows sync for Exchange sites that lack Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) or BlackBerry Exchange Server (BES).

"CompanionLink reads contact and calendar data using Microsoft Outlook installed on a PC," says Wayland Bruns, CTO for CompanionLink Software. "The connection to Exchange Server is authenticated by the user's PC. CompanionLink moves data to Google contacts, Gmail contacts, and Google Calendar. Once this data is in Google, you can use Google Sync or Palm® Synergy(TM) to automatically synchronize contacts and calendar with your phone. This is a two-way sync, so new contacts and calendar events created on the phone will sync via Google and CompanionLink back to your PC and Exchange Server."

CompanionLink synchronizes a variety of resources including Exchange public folders contacts and calendar, and Microsoft Outlook Business Contact Manager (BCM) accounts and tasks. Google Sync supports BlackBerry, Apple iPhone, Windows Mobile, and Symbian phones. Palm Pre is supported via the Palm Synergy(TM) sync service with Google. Google Android phones are also natively supported. CompanionLink does not interfere with other installed systems, including EAS or BES, which may be serving other users or devices. "CompanionLink is a simple client-side alternative to more complex synchronization systems," says Bruns.

CompanionLink for Google is available for use free of charge for 14 days at www.companionlink.com/google. CompanionLink also offers a server-based solution, called DoubleLook Enterprise, which can provide Google synchronization for multiple users from one server-side application. A remote configuration service called RunStart, starting at $29 per configuration, and a Premium Support service for $99 per year is also offered by CompanionLink.
