We are pleased to add Common Sense Media and JP - Inspiring Knowledge to the P21 Strategic Council, said Frank Gallagher, Chair of P21 and Executive Director of Cable in the Classroom. The addition of another leading nonprofit and a growing international education technology corporation reflect the diverse coalition that exists within P21, united in the goal of better preparing the next generation.

Mike Lorion, General Manager of Education, will represent Common Sense Media and Jorge Sá Couto, JP-IK Chairman, will represent JP - Inspiring Knowledge on P21s Strategic Council.

Common Sense Media is a national nonprofit dedicated to helping kids and families thrive in a world of media and technology. Through its education programs, Common Sense Media empowers students to become knowledgeable and responsible digital citizens. Its full suite of free NETS and ELA Common Core-aligned education resources includes a K-12 curriculum created in collaboration with Dr. Howard Gardner and the GoodPlay Project at the Harvard Graduate School of Education; Digital Passport, with web-based learning games for 3rd-5th grade students; and robust online professional development for teachers.

Common Sense Media and P21 share a commitment to preparing students to think critically, engage safely, and participate ethically in this increasingly digital world, said Mike Lorion. By giving kids these foundational skills of digital literacy and citizenship, theyre able to maximize the incredible potential of technology for learning. We look forward to the work we can do with P21s members to support this important effort.
