Comdex: ArcSoft Releases Mac OS X Imaging Tools

Programs support TWAIN capture for OS X By Dave Nagel
ArcSoft has announced three new imaging programs for Mac OS X. The new programs join PhotoStudio in ArcSoft's OS X lineup, which was released a short time ago. The new OS X applications include PhotoPrinter, PhotoImpression and Panorama Maker. ArcSoft says that, in addition to these, the company will continue to release new software for Mac OS X throughout 2002.

The previously released PhotoStudio is an image-editing suite designed for home and office use. It includes editing tools and image manipulation and retouching features, including layering, text, red-eye removal, contrast and hue adjustment, filters and effects and support for a number of file formats. It sells for $99.99.

PhotoPrinter is an application that allows users to print multiple images on a single page. It includes printing templates and also allows users to design their own page layouts. It also includes tools for cropping, special effects, borders, frames and text. It sells for $39.99.

Panorama Maker is a photo-stitching application for joining multiple photos into a single panoramic picture. It supports vertical, horizontal, 360 degrees and tiled panoramas, and output can be viewed in QuickTime or applications that support VRML. Panorama Maker sells for $29.99.

PhotoImpression is an image-manipulation program for retouching and manipulating images, as well as applying special effects. It sells for $49.99.

All of the programs are built natively for OS X and support TWAIN acquisition technology for OS X. The programs are also available for Mac OS 8.6 through 9.x. For more information, visit
