ColorVision Spyder2 Debuts at PhotokinaNew color management technology provides accuracy & ease of use (September 22, 2004)
Spyder2’s sleek dual-phase hardware design delivers precise calibration and highly accurate ICC profiles for CRT, LCD and laptop displays. Spyder2 monitor calibration software and graphical user interface offers ease-of-use previously unavailable in professional-level monitor calibration products. Once again, the acknowledged category leader raises the bar for monitor calibration with developments in usability and advances in color science.
ColorVision’s Spyder2 product line debuts at Photokina September 28 through October 3 rd at the Professional Imaging Hall No.14.2 Aisle ‘L’ Booth Nr.040. It will also be on display at Photo Plus Expo in New York City October 21-23 at ColorVision Booth No.1204.
ColorVision’s research and development team–Optical Scientist, Dr. Colman Shannon, and M.I.T. educated Physicist, Dr. Michael H. Brill, have implemented advanced state-of-the-art optical science to the new Spyder2 products. Innovative technologies include new light detectors that deliver a five-fold increase in sensitivity as well as a new filter pack system and a patent-protected light baffle to further increase the accuracy of color measurement. The new calibration software utilizes sophisticated gray balance and tonal response algorithms to produce superior color images—including exceptionally smooth gradient steps, more life-like flesh tones and neutral grays.
The original Spyder was the first screen calibration suite in the market that implemented ICC compliance within applications such as Adobe Photoshop, at an affordable price point. The innovations of Spyder2 make the monitor calibration process easier and more accurate while maintaining its cost effectiveness.
“Monitor calibration used to be an expensive, complicated, and mysterious process,” states Brian Levey, vice president of ColorVision. “The ground-breaking Spdyer2 software’s enhanced wizard walks you through the calibration process. No question goes unanswered with comprehensive on-screen help, available at every step of the way.”
For power users, Spyder2PRO software delivers a wide range of advanced features such as improved white-point correction routines, automated black and white luminance adjustments, and improved methodology for loading calibration data at start-up. A ‘Profile Chooser’ makes it easy to select and change profiles. Multiple monitor calibration support is now available for both Mac and Windows systems.
The new engineering and technology achievements attained in the all-new Spyder2 PANTONE COLORVISON product line are designed to meet the accelerating growth in the photo/imaging market with affordable and precise monitor calibration.
Levey remarks, “The development of Spyder2 shows that ColorVision listens to its demanding customers and is once again first-to-market with state-of-the-art technology. As always, our products are based on design excellence and backed by superior customer support”.
