College evaluated cannibal suspect before attack

Morgan State Univ. says it evaluated cannibal suspect before attack, found he wasn't a threat By The Associated Press

BALTIMORE (AP) ' Morgan State University officials say they evaluated a student suspected of cannibalism before the gruesome attack, but they found he did not pose a threat to campus months before the attack.

A former student who said he was beaten by Alex Kinyua with a baseball bat days before the deadly attack says the university should have done more. Kinyua is charged in the beating and killing.

Joshua Ceasar said Friday that if he had heard about Kinyua's outburst on campus he would have steered clear of him and dodged an attack that left him partially blind.

School spokesman Clinton Coleman says the university is reviewing what happened, but it appears procedures were followed. Coleman says two campus officers visited Kinyua and he was assessed by the counseling center.
