Cisco Defends Networks With Help From Lost PlanetOgilvy & Mather taps editorial talents of Kim Bica (July 15, 2004)
In a new campaign for Cisco, ad agency Ogilvy & Mather commissioned the editorial talent of Lost Planets Kim Bica. Directed by Joe Pytka, the five witty spots, shot in Los Angeles and Rome, Italy, tout the excellent network protection and services that Cisco provides its customers.
?Sarahs Escapade begins with the motion graphics and voiceover, ?Meanwhile in dads office... and a framed photo of a young girl. Dad tells his adorable daughter, ?Ill be right back, honey and steps out of his office. The bored girl proceeds to make faces against the window, do a cartwheel in middle of the office and look through dads stuff before downloading an attachment from a friend on his computer. A warning pops onto the screen, ?Worm Detected -- the young girl looks worried. ?Worm Isolated -- she bites her finger in fear. ?Worm Destroyed -- she throws her arms up in relief. ?Defending the network from human nature, concludes the voiceover. ?This is the power of the network. Now.
?Silent Hero focuses on a dinner party of company executives who complain that their networks were all downed by an Internet worm. A woman looks at a silent man across the table and says, ?Jeff, youre awfully quiet. He replies, ?Our network didnt go down, much to the disbelief of the others. ?You get the check, another executive declares as he hands over the bill.
The spot ?Espresso Time features two male and one female colleague enjoying an after-lunch coffee. One of the men uses a cup of coffee, a sugar cube and creamer to illustrate the benefits of having their database network, phones and video connected into one network. ?On the same network, they do more, explains the man as mixes the three ingredients together. ?It is a convergence. He hands the cup to the woman who tastes the coffee, nods her head in approval and says, ?I like convergence. The spot ends with the voiceover, ?Helping companies do more with voice, video and data.
The other visually compelling spots follow a similar premise, demonstrating that Cisco is synonymous with superior support, protection and networking services.
