Cinevative Produces Commercial For ?Aida

CG animation promotes Elton John And Tim Rice?s Broadway hit tour (November 30, 2004)

Using mostly computer generated animation, Cinevative Productions created a 30 second TV spot to promote a tour of the Elton John and Tim Rice Broadway hit, ?Aida.

The commercial is slated to air in December, before the stage show will be completed. As a result, entire CGI sets had to be created in post-production.

Director Mark Ciglar and cinematographer Chris Telford shot twelve actors and dancers on Beta SP against a 60x30 green screen. Adobe After Effects was used to composite the footage with sets built in Maxons Cinema 4D. Elements were also created in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. A film-like appearance was achieved using The Orphanages Magic Bullet Suite. All post-production was completed at Cinevatives facilities using two Macintosh G4s outfitted with Blackmagics Decklink Pro cards.

The commercial, which was produced by Carrie Dobro of Cinevative, maps performers to pyramids and other ancient Egyptian architecture to reflect the love triangle between Aida, a Nubian princess stolen from her country, Amneris, an Egyptian princess and Radames, the soldier they both love.

Aida will be presented in several states including, California, Texas, North Carolina, Arizona, Ohio and Missouri by Theatre League, one of the nations largest theatrical organizations.
