Cinema 4D XL 7.3 Integrates with After EffectsNew release free for current users
The new integration capabilities of version 7.3 include depth maps and alpha channel support. Animators can also transfer project settings, including dimensions, frame rate, fields and time range. It also supports correct layer mode transitions in multipass renderings and can create nested folders for each individual light source.
In addition, the new import/export filter supports new features from the forthcoming After Effects 5.5 release. This includes the ability to import camera data, including focal length, position and rotation. Light sources can also be imported, including position, rotation, intensity, cone angle, color and shadow. Keyframes of both cameras and lights are also preserved.
Cinema 4D XL 7.3 should be available shortly. (It was not up on Maxon's site at press time.) The update will be free. The full package runs $1,695 and is available for Macintosh (including Mac OS X) and WIndows. Competitive upgrades are also available, as are significant discounts for educational users.
