CinePostproduction, Germany, Increases DI Output With BrightDrive Media Sharing Infrastructure(January 08, 2007)
DMN Newswire--2007-1-8--Bright Systems, Inc., a leading developer of file server and infrastructure technology for the post production industry, has announced that one of Europes longest established film specialists, CinePostproduction GmbH & Co. KG, in Berlin, Germany, has purchased a high capacity BrightDrive media sharing system. CinePostproduction has installed BrightDrive in one of its subsidiary companies, Geyer Berlin, where it forms the primary infrastructure for creative content management and media sharing across the Companys extensive SD and HD digital intermediate (DI) workflows.
Using BrightDrive, operators at CinePostproduction Geyer Berlin are able to work on the same media simultaneously in real-time, sharing files between a Clipster, Smoke, Flame, Lustre and a Specter. All projects requiring DI, including motion picture films, television productions and advertising, will benefit from the new system.
With its roots extending back to 1911 when Karl Geyer managed the famous Geyer-Werke film house, Geyer Berlin has been setting standards in film processing for many decades and continues to invest in its reputation. ?BrightDrive is a high-performance media sharing system that uses advanced, proven technology, said Stefan Mueller, Branch Manager, Geyer Berlin. ?We are impressed with BrightDrives sophisticated toolsets which are capable of complex DDR-grade data management procedures in particular, its ability to automatically optimize the layout of data on disks to avoid problems associated with out of sequence frames.
BrightDrive enables digital media to be shared across all postproduction and DI workflows including ingest, conform, editing, effects, 2D and 3D animation, color grading and compositing, irrespective of the mix of operating systems in use. Using Ethernet, Fibre Channel and video networks, media is delivered in speeds greater than real-time and is thoroughly proven for independent resolution scanning, finishing and mastering. ?With BrightDrive, we have been able to significantly speed up the flow of work between the various postproduction stages by enabling DI operators to share media concurrently, continued Mueller. ?This means we have a more collaborative and thus more creative environment where operators can see each others work as changes are made in real-time. BrightDrive has reduced our average ?time to completion and enabled us to greatly improve data handling.
CinePostproductions BrightDrive system was purchased through Storaxx, Bright Systems reseller in Germany. Storaxx will also provide technical support and post-sales services.
