CineForm Extends Award-Winning 3D Editorial Workflow to the Windows Platform; Announces Neo3D for WindowsFirst Light 3D Engine Drives New Windows Version; Enables Editors to Cut 3D Content on Any Windows-Based Editing App (November 17, 2009)
DMN Newswire--2009-11-17--CineForm(r), Inc. (www.cineform.com), creators of high-fidelity compression-based workflow solutions for the post production marketplace, today announced it has extended its industry-unique 3D editorial workflow -- driven by the award-winning CineForm First Light 3D workflow engine -- to the Windows platform. With this announcement, Neo3D for Windows enables editors to cut 3D content on virtually any Windows-based editing application that supports AVI or MOV file formats.
Introduced at NAB 2009, CineForm Neo3D is a significant development in 3D post production workflows, enabling users to edit 3D projects in real time with full frame rate playback to an external 3D monitor. With CineForm First Light 3D as the enabling 3D workflow and production engine, Neo3D for Windows users are provided comprehensive control of the 3D image processing workflow, including:
Synchronization and multiplexing of individual left and right eyes into stereo CineForm files;
Image development on stereo files including exposure, contrast, saturation, lift, gamma and gain. Adjustments can be made on individual eyes or on the combined stereo stream;
Adjustment of convergence between eyes, including horizontal, vertical, or rotation
Adjustment of "keystoning", or corner pins, to correct for incorrect camera toe-in/out;
Zoom of the stereo stream or individual eyes within the stream
Selection of the 3D presentation format for display, including:
Passive Polarized: side-by-side, over-under or interlace
Anaglyph: Red/Cyan or Amber/Blue
2D: Left or Right
Compare Mode: Onion skin or difference
All adjustments made in First Light 3D are performed in real-time by CineForm's Active Metadata processing engine and are stored as Active Metadata, and therefore, are non-destructive.
"3D is the buzz throughout the industry today as Hollywood continues to produce new 3D hits and more and more editors realize the viability of producing 3D content in more efficient and effective ways," said David Taylor, CEO of CineForm, Inc. "By extending Neo3D to the Windows platform, we are making our award-winning 3D production innovations accessible to the entire post production community. Now that we've eliminated the technical obstacles to effective 3D production, we're excited to see the impact Neo3D will have on our customers' limitless creative energy and enthusiasm."
Neo3D for Windows will make its first public debut this week at InterBEE 2009 in Tokyo in the Musetex booth #7104 in Hall #7.
