Chimani Launches Grand Canyon National Park App for iPhone and Android

  (March 15, 2011)

Yarmouth, ME (Vocus/PRWEB) March 15, 2011

Chimani, LLC announced today it has released its newest app, a complete resource for exploring Grand Canyon National Park.

The Grand Canyon app, an indispensable resource for anyone exploring our 2nd most visited national park, delivers constantly updated content, including ranger led activities, free shuttle bus schedules and much more. Users can view sunset and sunrise times for the most memorable scenic overlooks (including Hopi Point, the park's most popular sunset destination), review lodging options, plan hikes, learn about over 250 points of interest such as Grand Canyons impressive overlooks and access a complete list of facilities including locations of all the restrooms in the park.

Like the Acadia National Park and Yosemite National Park apps that preceded it, the Grand Canyon app boasts a rich and impressive map interface that is custom-made, GPS enabled, includes every hiking trail in the park, and displays interactive points of interest.

The Chimani Grand Canyon National Park app includes over 150 photographs - 50 of which are from award-winning author and photographer Wayne Ranney. Numerous photos are directly from his book "Carving Grand Canyon: Evidence, Theories and Mystery".

"I'm really excited about the how much quality information there is and how it contribute to the park visitor's experience," says Chimani President, Kerry Gallivan. "Chimani develops mobile apps strictly for national parks and they just keep getting better and better. With the Grand Canyon app, particular attention was given to making sure safety information is easily accessible to users. The Grand Canyon is one of our most beautiful national parks, but can be one of the most dangerous if not adequately prepared.

Users rave about the ability to follow their progress using the GPS feature, even when cell coverage fails or isn't available at all. "Like all the features of this app, you don't need cell access to unleash its full capabilities. Whether you are simply trying to find the closest restroom or taking the audio tour of the park (with over 45 minutes of professionally narrated material), you'll always be able to enjoy the full experience of the app," says Gallivan.

The new iPhone app can be downloaded from Apple's iTunes app store and the Android version from the Android Marketplace (keyword: "chimani") for an introductory price of only $.99 through April 1, 2011. After that, the app will sell for the regular price of $4.99. A lite version of the app is available for free.

The Grand Canyon National Park app is the latest in a series of apps by Chimani, including Acadia National Park, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Yosemite National Park and the Cape Cod National Seashore apps. All are available in Android versions as well as the original iPhone versions.
