Gunman shoots 1 at Chicago hospital; police search under way, university warns students By The Associated Press

CHICAGO (AP) ' Police say they're searching a Chicago hospital for a man suspected of shooting a woman in an apparent domestic situation.

Chicago police public news affairs officer Hector Alfaro tells The Associated Press that there is only one known victim of the shooting that occurred about 11:40 p.m. CDT Thursday University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center. He says he doesn't know the woman's condition or whether she has gotten medical help.

Officers have formed a perimeter around the facility, but Alfaro says he doesn't know if the building is on lockdown.

The Chicago Tribune (http://trib.in/utXWqK) reported the university sent a text message alert to students just before 1 a.m. CDT Friday warning that there is a gunman in the hospital and people should stay in a secure location.
