Check Point Named a Leader in Enterprise Network Firewalls Magic Quadrant(December 19, 2011)
REDWOOD CITY, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/19/11 -- Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced its position in the Leaders quadrant in Gartner's 2011 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Network Firewalls(1).
According to Gartner, the Leaders quadrant contains a mix of large and midsize vendors, with the common element of making products that are built for enterprise requirements. These requirements include a wide range of models, support for virtualization and virtual LANs, and a management and reporting capability that is designed for complex and high-volume environments, such as multitier administration and rules/policy minimization. An NGFW capability is an important element as enterprises move away from having dedicated IPS appliances at their perimeter and remote locations. Vendors in this quadrant lead the market in offering new safeguarding features, providing expert capability, rather than treating the firewall as a commodity, and having a good track record of avoiding vulnerabilities in their security products. Common characteristics include handling the highest throughput with minimal performance loss and options for hardware acceleration.
With the proliferation of Web 2.0 and mobile computing technologies, the volume and sophistication of Internet threats has risen, making security more difficult for many businesses to manage. Check Point R75 offers organizations comprehensive security by integrating all of the critical software blade protections organizations need to safeguard their business in modern day IT environments, including: Firewall, VPN, Application Control, Intrusion Prevention, Identity Awareness, Data Loss Prevention, and Mobile Access. Check Point R75 reinforces the company's vision for 3D Security and delivers leading software blade protections that enable businesses to gain greater visibility and control over data, Web 2.0 applications, and mobile access -- bringing organizations multi-dimensional security in a single, integrated solution.
"Because security complexity is often the number one obstacle IT administrators face today, businesses are looking for solutions that deliver comprehensive protection, are simple to use, and can adapt to changing business requirements," said Juliette Sultan, head of global marketing at Check Point Software Technologies. "We believe our position in the Leaders quadrant affirms our ability to help customers simplify security by providing protection against a wide range of threats with a single, unified solution."
Check Point has continued to provide customers with innovative security technologies based on the Software Blade Architecture. The latest software release, R75.20, features a new URL Filtering solution that integrates with Application Control, and includes SSL Inspection as well as expanded Data Loss Prevention capabilities. Check Point R75.20 continues to build on Check Point's vision, defining security as a business process combining policies, people and enforcement for stronger protection across all layers of security.
In addition, Check Point announced a new Anti-Bot Software Blade that helps customers discover bots and prevents damages by blocking communication between infected hosts and remote operators. The Anti-Bot solution will be integrated into every security gateway to provide businesses with multi-layered bot prevention against malware threats, ensuring all channels of business communication remain secure.
Also, the new line of Check Point appliances unveiled in October 2011 delivers the industry's most comprehensive security with triple performance. These eight new appliances integrate more security functions, while improving bandwidth and accelerating network speeds.
