Channel Storm Releases Live Channel Pro 2

Software-only broadcast suite available for Mac OS X By Dave Nagel
Channel Storm today released Live Channel Pro 2.0, an update to the company's software-only suite for emulating a broadcast studio. The new version expands beyond Webcasting into video production, with full-screen output and recording capabilities. It's available now only for Mac OS X.

Live Channel is a program designed to simulate several components of a broadcast studio, including live mixing and switching, transitions, titles, overlays, video and audio clips and live video and audio sources. Live Channel Pro had previously been available as a broadcast suite designed specifically for Webcasting. However, the new version adds features for integration into a video production environment. These include output direct to full-screen video in real time and the ability to record to tape. These new features are available in addition to real-time Web streaming and recording to disk, which are available simultaneously with the video output features.

It also gains several new features, improvements and workflow changes. The interface is now dynamic, so that windows can be moved, added and closed; a new ability to accept an unlimited number of input sources, both live and stored; support for multiple text-based titles; unlimited overlays with real-time compositing over unlimited video layers; picture in picture with scaling features; Visual layer positioning; "preview next" for previewing a composition element before making it live; "live now" for switching sources without transitions; multiple source transitions; additional real-time transitions, including 3D effects; audio volume now saved for each input individually; a new voiceover feature, which automatically adjusts audio levels for narration; multiple recording sessions; support for QuickTime 6.1, including MPEG-4 audio and video; compression presets; and system events for control via AppleScript and other applications.

Live Channel Pro 2 is available now for Mac OS X for $999. A demo version is also available. For more information, visit
