Channel 4 Upgrades to Pinnacle Systems MediaStream

Upgrades its servers to Pinnacle Systems? MediaStream 8000, a leading HD/SD play-to-air server (August 08, 2005)

Channel 4 is scheduled to upgrade its servers to Pinnacle Systems MediaStream 8000, a leading HD/SD play-to-air server. The commercial broadcaster is to continue its legacy with Pinnacle principally for its digital E4 and E4+1 entertainment channels.

?Channel 4 continues to trust Pinnacle Systems to help it achieve the most efficient workflows, says Channel 4 CTO Kevin Burrows. ?MediaStreams unrivalled storage capability allows us to expand the business with the confidence that our technology is future-proof.

Channel 4 is to use the server for two input and five output channels to transmit programmes on its popular E4 channel.

MediaStream 8000 goes live at Channel 4 this summer as a significant upgrade to the broadcasters previous MediaStream 700. The MediaStream 8000s networked storage offers scalability to almost unlimited capacity with up to 100 channels.

?More than three-quarters of the UKs population watch Channel 4 services in the course of an average week so a reliable playout server with sufficient storage is mission-critical, says Pinnacle Systems MD, VP EMEA Richard Scott. ?MediaStream 8000 continues Pinnacles envious legacy with Channel 4 and demonstrates its capability to meet the challenges of major broadcasters around the globe.
