ChaCha Partners With STATS to Deliver Unique, New Mobile Sports Alerts to Fans(December 01, 2010)
INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- (Marketwire) -- 12/01/10 -- ChaCha, the #1 free, real-time answers service, today announced that it has partnered with STATS LLC, the world's leading sports technology, data and content company, to deliver free, unique, in-depth mobile sports alerts to fans of nearly every professional and college sports team. This marks a strategic move by ChaCha to provide more in-depth, targeted information in categories of high interest to its vast and rapidly-growing user base.
Mobile users can text the word ALERT followed by their favorite team name to ChaCha at 242-242 to receive ongoing alerts on their teams at game time (for example, text: ALERT GIANTS to 242-242). Pre-game messaging includes current team standings, location time, channel, and even betting odds. During games, users get periodic score updates along with top player stats. After the game ends, fans receive the final scores and stats, plus next game information including opponent, location, date and time. ChaCha is using coverage from STATS to provide alerts for most major team sports, including NFL football, NBA basketball, MLB baseball, NHL hockey, and NCAA college football and basketball (both men's and women's). ChaCha also provides fans with on demand live score updates for these games.
"Our users are huge sports fans and have asked us more than 14 million sports related questions in the past year on mobile and online, from facts and stats to who is going to win the Super Bowl," says Scott Jones, ChaCha's CEO. "By partnering with STATS, the world's premiere sports information provider, we can give our users the best in mobile sports content and alerts."
For ChaCha's partners and brand marketers, the new mobile sports alerts provide additional opportunities to sponsor the new alerts or insert messages and video ads on related alerts. For example, a brand could 'own' the sports alerts for a certain team or an entire league.
Fans will also soon be able to sign up for these new ChaCha mobile alerts online at chacha.com. ChaCha has nearly 100 mobile alerts available, including popular topics such as weather, celebrity news, horoscopes, jokes and more. A list of available mobile alerts can be found at chacha.com.
