CenterBeam Launches CenterBeam 365+ Hosted Collaboration SuiteDecade of Cloud Experience Results in Solution That Provides Flexibility, Greater Functionality, Enhanced Security and Seamless Integration (October 17, 2011)
SUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/17/11 -- CenterBeam Inc., a pioneer in delivering hosted IT services, today announced the launch of CenterBeam 365+, a hosted collaboration suite that gives mid-sized enterprises best-in-class solutions with the functionality and familiarity of on-premise offerings and the convenience and cost-effectiveness of the cloud.
With CenterBeam 365+, users get more than what's offered in Microsoft® Office 365. CenterBeam 365+ includes Microsoft Office® Web Apps, Microsoft SharePoint®, Microsoft Lync and Microsoft® Exchange. But unlike Exchange Online, CenterBeam 365+ does not eliminate many of the features of the on-premise Exchange solution. Instead, CenterBeam 365+ delivers in the cloud 17 on-premise features of Exchange in the categories of administration, applications, client access, compliance/archiving, directory, security and voice mail. CenterBeam 365+ also delivers enhanced security and archiving, seamless integration into the user's existing environment, experienced implementation, single vendor accountability and live 24x7 support from the company's North American-based customer care team.
"CenterBeam truly understands our fundamental needs. We wanted to maintain our preferences and high level of security, but move to a cloud-based solution that delivers the flexibility we need in the most affordable way possible," said William Santille, vice president of technology and CTO at Advanced Equities Inc. "We chose CenterBeam 365+ because it enables us to continue providing our employees with the Microsoft tools they are comfortable with, yet we do not have to sacrifice on functionality, control, support and most importantly, security, as we move to the cloud."
Compared to Microsoft Office 365, which is a consumer class solution for hosted collaboration, CenterBeam 365+ enables enterprises to integrate their infrastructure, delivering the features and functionality of an on-premise solution in the cloud. Additionally, CenterBeam 365+ does not require enterprises to undertake costly software upgrades or purchase and maintain servers to retain certain functionalities. For example, CenterBeam 365+ continues to support PST files, so enterprises do not have to upgrade/implement SharePoint; it supports Outlook 2003, eliminating the requirement to upgrade to Outlook 2010; and it offers real single sign-on for any version of Activity Directory without the need for ADFS 2.0.
"Building on our experience as the first company to offer multi-tenant hosted Exchange in 1999, we saw a unique opportunity to meet a real need: giving mid-market enterprises the flexibility, economics and access of the cloud -- but with the look, functionality and high-level security of on-premise Exchange," said Dr. A. Kevin Francis, CenterBeam's president and CEO. "With CenterBeam 365+, our customers don't have to compromise. They can move to the cloud, but with the assurance they'll still have the features, security or business policies to which they have been accustomed."
CenterBeam 365+ is built from the ground up to deliver enterprise-class security. CenterBeam houses its customers' cloud environment in a Tier-3, Class A datacenter with triple redundancy built into every element of the systems (n+1). Both CenterBeam and its datacenter partner, CenturyLink (formerly Qwest Communications, International), are SAS-70, Type-II certified. Additional resiliency is provided as CenterBeam hosts a domain controller for its customers' Active Directory to ensure a constant flow of and access to e-mail if service is interrupted at the customer site.
In addition to selling the solution direct, CenterBeam is offering CenterBeam 365+ to its partners and resellers. This option offers resellers enhanced compensation and enables them to maintain account control, including the ability to direct bill their clients.
