Cascade SIGGRAPH Presents a Night with LAIKAProvides a Special Screening of ?Moongirl;? Includes Discussions with Award-Winning Technical Directors and Animators (February 06, 2006)
A charming tale about lunar mythology, Moongirl is LAIKAs first entertainment offering and director Henry Selicks first all CG-animated film. ?Moongirl recently won the Short Film Special Jury Prize at the Ottawa International Film Festival and Grand Owl Award, Best Animation at the FANTASY WORLDWIDE International Film Festival. The Film was also nominated for an ANNIE Award for Best Animated Short Subject.
Location and Registration
The Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH Night with LAIKA will take place Monday, Feb. 27, from 68 p.m. at the Governor Hotel (www.govhotel.com), located at 614 SW 11th Avenue, in downtown Portland, Ore. The night will commence with a meet and greet in the Grand Ballroom on the third floor at 6 p.m., with a ?Moongirl screening at 6:30 p.m., followed by a discussion on the computer graphics techniques and processes at 7 p.m., and a question and answer period from 7:30 to 8 p.m.
This and other Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH meetings are free to Cascade Chapter members. Nonmembers will need to pay a $5.00 admission fee at the door. Annual local membership can be purchased at the door for $25.00 ($18.00 for students). Light appetizers will be available to attendees. Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH
The Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH Chapter exists to serve the needs of the Oregon and Southwest Washington computer graphics industry and students.
